Produce

Healthy living is a huge part of our intention which is why we had the itch to begin growing and preserving our own chemical free produce. We grow an array of different produce in our 1/4acre plot; the summer of 2021 we also built our first seasonal greenhouse to try growing some of the higher zoned plants. Some of our seeds get started early in the year to ensure that we get a great harvest, this also allows us to provide potted plants in the spring to our customers so they can get growing in their own gardens. Our plot continues to grow each season as we try new things and experiment with different varieties. Our general goal is to fuel the earth and our bodies with regenerative farming. We believe in the intake of highly nutritious foods which is why we have leaned into chemical free growing, we hope to one day become organic certified. This is why plot plan, crop rotation, cover crops, plant pairing and daily care for our land is crucial. We also firmly believe that regenerative farming will make a drastic impact on our soil and earth. We do not want to deplete our soil year after year, rather feed our soil exactly what is needed for long term sustainability. This led us into the search for information on healthy compost, soil rejuvenation and farming with the earth. Having chemical free soil means we also need healthy organic fertilizer! This is where we dive into our newest learning curve… goats! Nigerian dwarf goats to be exact but we will get to that later. Our goats are not only hilarious adorable companions, they also serve a purpose. Fertilizer via poo! Their homemade fertilizer gets added into our compost pile - it then all gets mixed together. Combining, rotating and letting that pile sit in the magic of the sun will eventually break it down into black gold- new nutritious soil. This will slowly get added back into our growing space to balance out our soils needs; we also use crop rotation with a cover crop section to allow our soil to rest properly so it does not become over depleted. We need those healthy bugs and bacteria to be striving in order to achieve high nutritious produce for us and our customers to enjoy!
